ir·rev·er·ent (iˈrev(ə)rənt)

1. Lacking or exhibiting a lack of reverence; disrespectful.

2. Critical of what is generally accepted or respected; satirical: irreverent humor.

The title says it all. I don't know why I don't own this book yet, but I will soon enough.

Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, is renowned for fearlessly pushing the boundaries with her style ideas. Irreverent is her visual diary, of sorts, containing 250 magazine tear sheets, spanning her 30 year career, from some of the most important editorials and ad campaigns she has been a part of.

Roitfeld, a former model and writer, certainly is one woman I look up to. Art world impresario Oliver Zahm describes her thus:

“Carine Roitfeld’s influence on fashion is first and foremost her own doing — the fruit of that edgy, chic and audacious glamour that is hers and hers alone. Her style is as sharp and assertive as it is hard to describe, for it depends as much on how she wears the clothes as the brands and labels she chooses.”

Karl by Karl Lagerfeld ♥

Karl Lagerfeld has the midas touch. Right after he unveiled his Haute Couture spring 2012 collection for Chanel in Paris, the master went on to simultaneously launch KARL by Karl Lagerfeld, his first independent and accessible collection for online boutique NET-A-PORTER, in five cities - namely, Paris, London, New York, Berlin and Sydney, through a pop-up store-like experience.

Naturally, a few pieces are already sold out. But who wouldn't want to own an item from this 70-piece collection that screams that rock, super glam design ideology that we love so much from Lagerfeld.

The collection features a range of biker jackets, detachable collars (amazing!), blouses, high-waisted skirts, bags, sneakers and pumps, amongst others. With regards to the fabrics, there's leather, and then some, as well as metallic silk, and cotton. I love the tailored sihouette and that bag with Lagerfeld's silhouette is an absolute must-have. Go on over to NET-A-PORTER for the full collection.  J'adore.

Candice: the em(body)ment of sexy

Candice Swanepoel has an incredible body. Her body is absolute perfection. If you've ever debated that fact, then I'm pretty sure these images of her looking sweltering hot in this February 2012 Vogue China editorial will convince of my view.

The South African beauty is captured by photographer, Daniel Jackson, in designer gear from the likes of Narciso Rodriguez, Alexander Wang and Stella McCartney, amongst others.

I mean, seriously - such hotness!

Shine on

So Haute!

Spring 2012 Haute Couture fashion week is now underway in Paris. We've seen so much beauty already, but I think I'll wait for it to end before I blog about all of my favourites.

I will say one thing though - Atelier Versace is already of my faves... This dress - fire!

Solange is In Style

One of my favourite people in the world right now is singer, songwriter, DJ and model, Solange Knowles. Over and above her incredibly quirky and retro style which consists largely of with bold prints and patterns, I love that Solange has found what makes her beautiful and she is absolutely rocking that!

Here she stars in a 6 page feature in the February 2012 issue of In Style magazine, photographed by David Vasiljevic.  The styling by Haidee Findlay-Levin is amazing - that bold printed dress, ah c'mon!

On her style, Solange had this to say:
"Whether it’s eyelets, knits or florals, I always enjoy playing with texture and pattern. I like contrast.”
